What is ReeferPlus®?

Horizon Lines ReeferPlus® is more than a service offering, it is a mission to consistently improve our refrigerated cargo service capabilities for you and your customers. We are committed to working with the latest technology and process improvements to provide unparalleled refrigerated cargo services today and into the future.






Our ReeferPlus® mission falls into four major disciplines: Design, Security, Process and Visibility.

Design: Our work in refrigerated container technology includes several design enhancements developed by the company’s commercial and engineering teams. Our containers leverage a new design that includes enhanced insulation and stronger ceilings and floors that improve operating efficiency and durability. Security: Horizon Lines has made a significant effort to develop and integrate heightened container security measures. Each container is equipped with a new style of door lock cam to seal the doors with a high security seal and prevent entry to container without detection. The actual reefer unit itself is bolted into place and wire-sealed to detect unauthorized entry from the front of the container. More on ReeferPlus® Security.

Process: Our specialized processes for refrigerated cargo, we call Protected Service, offers detailed pre-trip inspection and cleaning process to ensure all mechanical functions are working properly and the containers are in good condition. For more on ReeferPlus® Protective Services.

Visibility: Exclusively available at Horizon Lines, our tracking, reporting and visibility tools use the latest technology to provide shippers direct information on the condition and location of their service-sensitive cargo. For more on Visibility, click on:
