Horizon Lines announced that we will discontinue our FSX service. We will manage this process very carefully to ensure an orderly transition that is least disruptive to your Asia supply chain. 

This is a decision that we do not take lightly and one that has been made with a great deal of care and deliberation. Although a new refinancing for our company is in place, softening economic conditions remain, as does the prospect of ongoing challenges in several trades. Like many other International carriers, we have been dealing with persistent rate and volume deterioration in the China trade and the adverse impact this is placing on our financial performance.

Throughout these challenging times in the Pacific, we have continued to run our existing service without interruption, however, with no end in sight to the rate and volume pressures in this trade we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the service. We want to reiterate that we will make every effort to ensure your Asia supply chain is not interrupted.

Below are the critical dates and information related to our final Eastbound and Westbound China services:

Eastbound from China to the U.S. West Coast:

The Horizon Hawk voyage 050E will sail on schedule this week, transporting all cargo booked and loaded for this voyage.

Our final sailing from China to the U.S. West Coast will be the Horizon Consumer voyage 289E, departing Ningbo on November 1st and Shanghai on November 2, 2011.

All cargo booked and loaded for this vessel will be delivered to the final destination in North America without disruption.

All empty containers not used for the Horizon Consumer should be returned to our Container depots in Ningbo and Shanghai. Please contact the Ben Line office in Ningbo or Shanghai if you have loaded containers scheduled for Horizon vessels after the Consumer. We will make every effort to find alternate arrangements to transport your cargo with as little disruption as possible.


Westbound from the US West Coast to China:
Our final 3 sailings for China will be:

Horizon Tiger voyage 049W sailing Los Angeles on 10/25 and Oakland on 10/27, arriving Ningbo on 11/14 and Shanghai on 11/15

Horizon Eagle voyage 050W sailing Los Angeles on 11/1 and Oakland on 11/3, arriving Ningbo on 11/21 and Shanghai on 11/22

Horizon Hawk voyage 051W sailing Los Angeles on 11/8 and Oakland on 11/10, arriving Ningbo on 11/28 and Shanghai on 11/29

All vessels are expected to sail on schedule and cargo will be delivered in China without interruption. Ben Line will continue to operate as the agent for Horizon Lines through the completion of all China services.
